Float and Surface Mounting.
A great way to present the entirety of an artwork, is to use a floating method. If the edges of the paper have interesting characteristics or the image goes straight to the edge, floating can be a fantastic way to ensure none of the image is lost.

Float mounting.
Float mounting is a striking method that lifts up the entire piece of artwork from the back board. Instead of framing in the traditional method tucking the artwork under the edge of a mount, float mounting puts all of the artwork on show!
This can be really effective when the edges of the paper have interesting characteristics, like showing age and history or textured paper edges.

Surface Mounting.
Surface mounting is exactly the same process, it just keeps the artwork against the mountboard instead of raising it up with the βfloatingβ effect.
Thinner frames can be used with this method if desired, as large spacers arenβt needed to raise the glass up as high.
These methods aren’t suitable for all types of artwork, please get in touch so we can recommend the best way to display your piece!
